Куба — это музыка и танцы. "Шестое чувство" кубинцев — музыкальность. Как им это удается? Дар божий или "труд"?..
Поет на Кубе далеко не каждый, но чувство ритма есть почти у всех. Алехо Карпентьер в эссе "Музыка на Кубе" уверял, что это — влияние афрокубинских традиций. Как бы то ни было, даже кубинец, уверяющий, что не умеет танцевать, делает это лучше нас.
Кубинцы как будто проникаются любовью к танцу и музыке раньше, чем пробуют молоко матери. Ведь и будущая мама не прочь закружиться в танце. Часто вижу малышню во дворе, они учатся танцевать прямо в подъездах. Пол здесь гладкий из плитки, плюс тень. И, если не хватает пары, то ребятишки отталкиваются прямо от стенки, заменяющей партнера.
Сын переехал на Кубу в 11 лет, сначала стеснялся и комплексовал, но потом перенял местные настроения. Теперь как истый кубинец крутится перед зеркалом, разучивая новые танцевальные движения, правда, уже не под сальсу, а под современный регетон.
На каждой кубинской сальсе или дискотеке обязательно найдутся несколько пар, которые танцуют лучше других. Тогда между ними завязывается батл, лишь ради спортивного интереса. Не редкость и спонтанные танцы на центральных улицах города, главное, чтобы, как в том анекдоте, музыка была хорошая... Вот на ВИДЕО, например, ребята танцуют на Малеконе в Гаване.
Увидеть подобное шоу своими глазами, не покидая отеля, увы, невозможно. Аниматоры в отеле не всегда танцоры выше среднего, да и задача у них другая — не себя показать, а туристов развлечь. Чтобы окунуться в кубинский колорит и пленительную танцевальную атмосферу, стоит посетить местную сальсу. Подобные заведения есть в любом кубинском городе.
Ограничившись отельными развлечениями, Кубу не понять и не прочувствовать ее танцевального задора. Ни одна частная вечеринка не обходится без танцев и громкой музыки. Мы уже писали, что подготовка основного праздничного блюда для кубинского застолья обычно занимает около шести часов. Все это время кубинцы танцуют, пары сменяют друг друга.

Автор английской версии — Джо Дэвис, в 1948 году она стала хитом в исполнении Дези Арназа. Кавер-версии записали Бинг Кросби, Нэт Кинг Коул, Сара Монтьель, Джери Холлиуэлл, Андреа Бочелли и многие другие исполнители. Но совершенно особенно исполнила эту песню Арина Данилова (17 лет) в конкурсе "Голос" (10 сезон)

Артуро Сандовал один из самых блестящих многогранных и известных музыкантов нашего времени — джазовый пианист и трубач, обладающий виртуозной техникой в диапазоне высоких нот на трубе и лирических импровизаций в балладах на фортепиано, чего он достигает без каких либо на то особых усилий. Мечта всей жизни Артуро — разделить свой дар, с теми, кто чувствует интенсивное обожание к музыке, её афро-кубинскому джазу.
Труба в руках Сандовал пылает золотом и вместе с тем её тон мягкий, верный, отмеченный тонким чувством свинга. Гигант такого высокого уровня и редкого таланта не мог быть счастлив в рамках коммунистического режима на Кубе и в должной мере составить репертуар и играть музыку, которой увлекался весь мир. Художник должен быть с в о б о д н ы м от условностей политики. Его встреча с Диззи Гиллеспи и Стэном Гетц — стала поворотной и, вывезя с Кубы жену и сына, ему удалось иммигрировать в Штаты. Там его карьера получила должный расцвет и признание публики.
«Во имя любви» — автобиографический фильм о музыканте, где Артуро Сандовал сыграл блестящий Энди Гарсия. Энди сам музыкант и играет на трубе. Огромная ответственность сыграть легенду при жизни. Фильм удался и остаётся одним из самых лучших о джазовых музыкантах. История жизни, полная лишений, тревог и реальной беды в условиях режима — воплотилась мечтой и признанием величайшего музыканта планеты Артуро Сандовал.

Одно из самых известных событий в жизни музыкальной Гаваны - джазовый фестиваль, он является проявлением связи между кубинскими ритмами и джазом. Этот симбиоз получился, когда в конце 19 века, только что освобожденные рабы начали мигрировать в Новый Орлеан. Начинался фестиваль в 1979 году в значительной степени как локальное событие в Каса-де-ла-Культура-де-Плаза.
Со временем, фестиваль вырос в размерах и перестал быть событием местного масштаба и проходит не на одной площадке, а нескольких крупных театрах и ночных клубах Гаваны. Джазовый фестиваль в Гаване посещали такие международные звёзды и джаза в том числе, как Диззи Гиллеспи, Чарли Хэйден, Стив Коулман, Мишель Легран, Иван Линс и Ронни Скотт и это лишь несколько имен в списке участников.
